Sound Body + Sound Mind = Sound Health
“Science without religion is lame, religion without science
is blind.”
- Albert Einstein,
The New Convergence
We are living in a most
exciting time. Finally Quantum
Physicists are coming to the same conclusions that ancient seers or
masters of ancient cultures have appreciated for thousands of years. While the ancient masters came to their understandings
through years of meditation or prayer, scientists are finding the same
results through modern research and experimentation.
We are human body/minds made up of tiny molecules that resonate together
to form each of us as a unique being.
When we ask questions like, “What’s the matter with you?,” we are bringing forth an understanding that “the matter
that is with us” physically, mentally and/or emotionally is dynamic. It is related to resonance and vibration on
a molecular level.
“The visible world is the invisible organization of energy.”
Physicist Heinz Pagels
So what does all this have
to do with Sound Therapy? Everything! Life wiggles. Everything that
is alive vibrates at particular frequencies that produce what we call
sounds. Some of these sounds create harmony while others create dissonance.
Some of these sounds are strong enough to be heard and felt, while others
are not. Whether we can hear or feel the subtle vibrations (sound waves)
of life, often depends upon our awareness
and ability to focus. It was for that reason that ancient masters taught about the importance of
prayer or meditation. As we sit
and focus on breath, chants and mantras, we are focusing the lens of
a camera or microscope, or fine tuning the musical instrument that is
our body. Regardless, if we are aware of them or not, sound waves are
always affecting us. Sound Therapy provides us with the ability to balance
our frequencies to create and maintain a life of health and happiness.
It is truly that simple.
As many articles have
shared, animals were aware of the frequency shifts around them and moved
toward higher ground before the Tsunami hit. As we know, many “human
animals” are not as “tuned in.” Yet, we as humans are suppose to be
the most intelligent beings on the planet. While certain parts of our
brain are significantly more advanced than other animals’, our minds,
or innate intelligence, seem to be sleeping on the job.
We, in many ways, have become numb and tuned out.
Sound Healing or Resonance
Therapy provides a way to tune in. It allows us to tap into a deeper
awareness of “the matter that is with us” that is both affecting and
effecting our life experience, thus enabling us to shift the vibrational
frequencies that no longer serve us mentally, physically, emotionally
and relationally.
“Feeling is
knowing” as explained in the above Tsunami example. And as we discussed earlier, awareness is the
first step. As we become more
aware of the subtle “matter that is with us,” we can make conscious
choices and shifts in our vibrational frequency organization. This understanding
frees us from limiting beliefs systems that “we have this condition
or that condition”. While we may have a pattern of “dis-ease” we now understand that we are dynamic beings that
are ever changing.
New research shows that
we can learn to direct our emotions
and attitudes to promote health rather than allow stress reactions
to cause dis-ease or dissonance. A strong and response-able body/mind
connection works with natural
rhythms, directing our internal energies to areas needing attention
for balanced health.
Having spent over twenty years researching and developing Sound Healing
environments, we are excited to share products and programs that we
know will provide people with the ability to tune into Sound Health. Many spas throughout the country are just beginning
to add various types of Sound Healing and Vibrational Medicine programs
to their menu of service choices. These
choices may include anything from sound toning or chanting classes as taught at The Chopra
Center at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California; to treatments
that place tuning forks on specific meridian points of the body
in place of acupuncture needles as skillfully practiced at El Monte
Sagrado in Taos, New Mexico; to adding low base frequency
transducers to the bottom of treatment tables.
While it is exciting that Sound Healing and Vibrational Medicine
are advancing into the mainstream, it is critical to educate people
about the pros and cons of the various choices available to them.
First of all, we are
always encouraged to do our own research on a topic before trying any
type of therapy. Visit websites like www.hado.net
and learn about the research of Dr. Marsaru
Emoto. Here you will learn about “The Laws of Resonance
and Harmonics”, which explain how music can dynamically change the structure of water
molecules. Interestingly enough, approximately 78%- 80% of our physical
structure as human beings is water. Books such as the Molecules of
Emotion and/or Your Body is Your Subconscious Mind, by Dr. Candice
Pert are also great resources. Dr. Pert held a variety of research positions
with the National Institutes of Health, and is an internationally recognized
pharmacologist who has published over 250 scientific articles on peptides
and their receptors and the role of these neuropeptides
in the immune system. She discovered the “opiate receptor” and explains
how “we are more like flickering flames than hunks of meat” and why
taking drugs can often create more dissonance than harmony, thus, lessening
our body’s ability to heal itself. Of
course, there is the famous Dr. Andrew Weil and his new CD, Self-
Healing with Sound & Music, which will take you through his
own personal as well as medical prospective on the world of sound healing
and even provide you with practical exercises you can do on your own.
Many of us know how music can shift us from one mood to another, or bring
us back to a specific memory in time. We have all experienced someone
in a car next to us with their base cranked up.
As human beings, we are a divine, full range harmonic organization
of frequencies. Placing ourselves in environments that vibrate at limited
bandwidth frequencies is not our highest choice. It is important to understand the difference
between resonance versus vibration. Many people
affiliate vibration with a mechanical limited bandwidth frequency that
is not honoring of the full range of informational intelligence within
the body/mind and spirit. When seeking out Sound, Vibrational or Resonance
Therapy it is important to make sure that the therapy honors the full
range of harmonic frequencies needed to truly bring the body/mind into
balance or harmony.
There are a variety of methods, technologies and pieces of equipment on
the market and available in spas all over the world offering sound and
vibrational therapy. The techniques vary from place to place,
which is why conducting your own research is encouraged. Barry Oser,
CTO of SO Sound Solutions, created the SO SoundChair,
designed from inception to honor and accurately deliver the body/mind
with a reflection of full range harmonic frequencies.
It was specifically developed out of extremely light and durable
composite materials molded in a tonal way to resonate higher tones in
the upper part of the body and lower tones in the lower part of the
body, as happens naturally. It is basically exercising the body/mind at
a molecular level.
Through the act of listening
to music and feeling it resonate through your body, you become more
aware of where stress or “inner-fear-ance”
patterns tend to reside in the body. That act of awareness coupled with
the full musical harmonic resonance stimulates the body/mind’s natural
relaxation response, thus releasing the tension in stressed areas, such
as muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as relieving the mental
and emotional body from such tension. Our bones, similar to tuning forks, begin to
resonate. We reconnect neuro
pathways to the brain, thus creating more balanced or focused states
of mind and more balanced heart rates which result in whole body/mind
harmony.
When we think about
stress from a musical prospective, we understand that certain notes
or groups of notes will be stressed at certain times of a song, while
others will not. If we use this same understanding of stress
within the human body/mind, we can appreciate that the stress response
in the body/mind is natural. It is the continual repetitive patterns
without release that cause the problems of tension, headaches, high
blood pressure, insomnia, lack of focus, increased heart rate and overall
physical aches and pains. When you are exposed to full body resonance/sound
therapy, initially, you feel the healing vibrations in the areas that
are the most tense or stressed. But typically within a short period
of time or after multiple treatments, the therapy begins to alleviate
those stress patterns and bring the body into harmonic balance.
Through the research with the SO SoundChair,
many have shared that they feel the results they get from
spending in it create longer lasting calming effects that stick with
them longer than a regular massage.
It is understood that this is because once the bones (the tuning
forks of the physical body) begin resonating they are able to
translate and distribute the full range of information efficiently
into the body from the core. Because the muscles and bones have a sympathetic
relationship, this allows the muscles to relax and trust the harmonic
information being grounded through the bones.
This harmonic resonance will often continue for several days.
“A sound mind in a sound body is a simple
but complete
description
of a happy life!”
John Locke
Through harmonic resonance
our body/mind finds Sound balance, Sound Health, and expanded awareness
of the more subtle aspects of ourselves as vibrations of light and sound.
